The film is set in 2200 AD, in the film has Rajnikanth playing two roles – scientist and the robot and its name is Endhiran, which is created by him. The robot knows all languages in the world and know all arts and can use all weapons and know martial arts. This film will focus on the situation which forced the scientist to make a robot and then his emotions and relationship with the endhiran. He is a famous scientist who is in love with the role played by Aishwarya. Later on he is given a mission of creating robots but at certain point of time there is a big twist which is the USP of Endhiran. Later the enthiran becomes like a human and fall in love with the scientists love interest. He tries to bring back his creation and then the chase begins among the three and so on.The film formally began on February 15, 2008 in Chennai, but the actual shooting had started in Peru with a song and before New Year. Aishwarya was shooting with Rajnikanth in Chennai and then in Vellore. This film earlier has had a budget of 120 crores, but now it touches the mark of 150 crores and became the costliest movie ever made in the history of Indian filmdom and it was slated to release on April 14th, 2010, but it will be released on September 27, 2010.The film will be releasing in Tamil, Hindi, and Telungu.
First director Sankar approached King Khan for this project, but he refused to commit this project due to some creativity differences. Then he tried Hrithik Roshan and then announced to the film as Robo with Ajith playing the lead. Finally, he got the person destined to do the film the one and only style king Rajni, the super star of south Asia.
The long time desire of the super star to pair with Ash is now fulfilled with Enthiran. He earlier tried to cast Ash in Baba, chandramukhi, and sivaji in vein. This film may destined to rock the Indian theaters soon wait and see.
